Frame-by-frame cine film scanning
Each frame of the film is scanned directly, avoiding the flicker, distortion and loss of detail associated with filming a projector screen. We transfer both Standard 8 and Super 8 cine film, including Super 8 films with original magnetic soundtracks. For sound films, we capture the audio separately using a specialised sound projector and synchronise it with the scanned picture.
Local handling in Baldoyle
Arrange a drop-off at our Baldoyle, Dublin 13 studio or send your reels securely from anywhere in Ireland. We inspect the reels, confirm the format and final price, and obtain your approval before starting.
The condition of older film varies. Fading, scratches, damaged perforations and weak splices already present on the reel may remain visible in the transfer.
Leader replacement and splice repairs
Where needed, we can replace leaders and repair some broken or weak splices on Standard 8 and Super 8 cine film.
Repairs depend on the condition and severity of the damage. We inspect the reels and provide a separate repair quote for your approval before proceeding. Successful repair or scanning cannot be guaranteed.
We do not currently offer mould treatment for cine film.
